Chana masala or chole masala is a popular vegetable dish in Pakistani cuisine & Indian cuisine. The main ingredient is chickpeas. It is fairly dry and spicy with a sour citrus note. The dish is found throughout South Asia, and is particularly popular in northern India and Pakistan.
In India, it is often eaten with a type of fried bread and is known as chole bhature. It is commonly sold by street vendors but also can be found in restaurants.

Chana Masala Paste

Just becuse the sauce is very smooth to eat like butter it is been named butter sauce.
Mainly this sauce is base on tomato so professional chef call it as tomato gravy, but the dish which is prepared is served as makhani dish ( Makhn = butter ) means butter curry.
Vegetable makhani, dal makhani, paneer makani, makhani mushrooms, chicken makhni are populer dishes.

Ingredients to prepare Chana Masala

2 cups Chickpeas / Garbanzo Beans

2 Nos. Tea Bags

Recipe to prepare Chana Masala

  • Soak chhole / Garbanzo Beans overnight in salty warm water with two tea bags.  (adding Tea Bags will turn Chana Black in Color)
  • Boil Chole / Chana along with tea bags in pressure cooker till they become soft.
  • Dilute 3 tbs. Khasiyat's chana masala paste into 3/4 cup water small mixing bowl, set aside.
  • Put frying pan on high heat with 1 tbs. oil; heat it till oil achieves required temperature.
  • When oil is ready Add diluted paste in frying pan.
  • Stir it throughly and cook it for about 30 seconds. constant stirring is required.
  • after 1/2 minute take out the tea bags and add Chole / Chana into the pan without water and stir so that it gets mixed up well.
  • Now, lower the heat and add 1/2 cup stock in it, simmer it till gravy and Chole / Chana combine throughly and sauce becomes thicker.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and ring onions and tomato.
  • Serve with puris, parathas, chapatis or rice.
